Peyote Beadwork
Does anybody do Beadwork?
What are your favourite stitches, Lazy, peyote, etc, and what beads do you like to use?
Which beads depends on the purpose. I have hoards of #10s and #11s and #14s a few even tinier and lots that are much larger.
I use the 10-14s for “counted” patterns. The tinier ones are strung for dollhouse miniatures. Big ones get used on drawstrings and tassels and even substituted for handles on small boxes.
For topping tassels, I prefer simple peyote. For fan handles, a 2-drop. I use Apache stitch on dangle earrings.
I use larger beads when I don’t feel the beadwork will be fully appreciated. I use smaller beads when each stitch may include a prayer or well-wishing.
4″ long dangle earrings done in #10 beads weigh about twice as much as 4″ long dangle earrings done in #14 beads.
